Tampa Bay OddCon

First, an apology. Your OddGod organizer has been swamped. Finals and family do make for quite a handful, but still that doesn’t mean there isn’t fantastic news!!

The awesomeness behind the internet literary sensation LJ Idol will be gracing us at the Tampa Bay OddCon with their creative wit and wisdom regarding the far reaching effects of technology on literature, human interaction, and really fantastic prose. Already sporting one compilation of Livejournal’s best authors, in Idol Musings, these intriguing folks will be available for questioning, brain picking, and general literary debauchery at their vendor table in the dealer room, one of their panels, or meet and mingle with them amongst the other members at the Doubletree.

Rumor has it they may include a live PodCast, as well as invite along other prize winning authors from the competition! Stay tuned for details as they come in!

Showcasing the best in the weirdest the web has to offer, from the funniest to the most viral to the most brain-scrub worthy images that you’ll never unsee again, The Tampa Bay OddCon will be devoting a theatre room for the most viral videos YouTube has to offer. The OddCon ROFL Room is a totally fan powered feature of the TB OddCon, which means without your suggestions, there might only be a maddening loop of “My Horse Is Amazing” and “ManCycle”. It’s up to you, the OddFans – send in your suggestions to be featured on the TB OddCon YouTube channel and expand the OddCon collection of the strangest WTF moments of the Intarwebz!

Frag it up, T-bag it, Throw it down! Oh no! Who doesn’t love that perfect snipe, that righteous crit, or that lucky draw that rocks your score right to the top? I sure as hell do! Want to join us? Grab your friends, your dice, and your books, this is one of my favorite parts of the con!

48 Solid hours of LARP, Tabletop, CCG and LAN gaming at the Tampa Bay OddCon. Three rooms of the con will be devoted to the gaming pursuits, offering a grand variety for your gaming palate.

Applications are being accepted for volunteers at the 2010 Tampa Bay OddCon. Volunteers can have their weekend membership fees refunded to them for the mere, paltry service of 10 hours over the course of the weekend.  There are several positions available and can now be found on the OddCon Membership page!

Just some volunteering basics:

1. The minimum age to volunteer at OddCon is 18. OddGods may set higher minimum ages for their staffs at their discretion.

2. To earn a refund for weekend membership, a volunteer must work a minimum of 10 hours. However, Staff Heads may require more hours of each volunteer, as necessary for scheduling shifts and covering hours of operation.

3. All volunteers must abide by OddJob Entertainment rules and policies regarding attire, weapons, drugs, and alcohol. OddCon policies are in place to protect staff, guests, and the rest of you OddKids from harm or liability. Additionally, Tampa Bay city and county ordinances are strictly enforced by the police officers in and around the hotel.

4. While being a volunteer might bring some measure of power, do not abuse your position. Any complaints will result in immediate removal of volunteer badge, status, and possibly attendance at the con. Understand that, as a volunteer, you are an extension of OddJob Entertainment and thereby subject to any demands regarding public image.

5. After you submit your application, it will be processed by the Volunteer Coordinator and the appropriate Staff Heads. You will receive either a confirmation of your status as a Volunteer, or a notification that we are unable to use your services. Please do not purchase a membership to the convention unless you receive this notification.

Sunday Morning after a Friday and Saturday night full of con-style debauchery, the last thing you want to do is find food. Enter the Hangover Brunch! An all you-can-eat brunch buffet will be an extra $17 but you have an added chance to mix and mingle with special guests, sponsors and VIPs at OddCon.  So don’t end up like the ‘lady in red,’ have a hot hearty brunch and stop by the dealer room one last time before saying farewell to OddCon 2010!
